What we did!

This is the blog of our 12th Trip to the U.S.A.
On this trip we arrived in March and spent a week with our friends Connie NA Jim at their Bluegrass Party, in Florida.
We then flew to Phoenix, where we collected our rig and then explored Southern Arizona, from the cowboy city of Tombstone in the East, to the desert City of Yuma in the West.
Travelling north along the course of the Colorado river we visited the London Bridge at Lake Havasu before exploring the Mojave Desert, including some more of Rout 66 and Calico Ghost Town.
Moving North West through California we shared in the CBA Bluegrass Campout in Turlock, before visiting Bodega Bay to follow The Birds. After sampling the delights of the Napa Valley we joined in The Fiddle Convention at Cloverdale before storing our rig and returning home after seeing some friends in San Leandro, near San Francisco.
This blog gives a day to day record of many of the things we did on this trip.

April 12th - Places and Home

Yesterday we modified our plans a bit, we had planned to stay two nights in Fresno, however an email from our friends including an invite to a Jam the next night tempted us to push on up to Pete and Jan's in Atwood.
We managed to get there in good time, have a bit of a rest and then go to Jack's for a lovely jam in the evening. It was such a good time, very relaxed, lots of music and talking and very friendly people, most of whom we had met once before in September, but amazingly they still remembered us!
We have been made most welcome by the people that we have met here (at Atwood, but also generally when we have travelled). I am coming to the conclusion that 'places' is about somewhere you go, but 'home' is about being with people. Either we have been very lucky, protected or guided, or we feel very easily at home. Atwood is one of those special places that make us feel like we are coming home when we visit here. It is a very comforting feeling and I suppose one of the many reasons we enjoy travelling.

  2. On a lighter note I have just looked at your map - its wonderful! Just love it, where did you get the knife and fork symbol from? I spent some time tidying up my lines a bit and putting placemarks on but I dont have your lovely list, mine is jumbled. Must try harder!
